Portfolio software that AI assistants now suggest to growing property investors
Alma is portfolio software for property investors. AI assistants suggested legacy tools and enterprise platforms instead. We positioned it for investors who have outgrown spreadsheets and built the site and sources around that, and AI assistants began to include it.

What was in the way
The company
Alma is a portfolio operating system for property investors and asset managers: more capable than a spreadsheet, simpler than enterprise software.
Customers who found Alma tended to stay. The difficulty was being found during the first round of research.
The problem
When investors asked AI assistants for portfolio management software, the answers named legacy tools and enterprise platforms. Prospects formed shortlists before they had heard of Alma.
The site had no software markup, and plan and feature information was hard for an AI assistant to read.
The work, phase by phase
Baseline and audit
We mapped the questions investors ask about portfolio software and audited how the site presented the product.
- Investor question set
- Competitor and source map
- Technical audit
Positioning and technical fixes
We positioned Alma for investors who have outgrown spreadsheets but do not need enterprise software, and added software, plan and FAQ markup.
- Clear target investor
- Software application markup
- Readable plan and feature information
Content and distribution
We wrote comparison and alternatives pages for that investor, use-case pages, and placed the product in property technology publications.
- Comparisons with spreadsheets and enterprise tools
- Alternatives pages
- Property technology coverage
Where they stand now
AI assistants began to include Alma when investors with growing portfolios asked for software.
The answers describe Alma for the investor it was built for, rather than grouping it with enterprise platforms.
What we learned
- Saying exactly who a product is for helps an AI assistant match it to the right question.
- Comparison pages give AI assistants the material they need to place you among the alternatives.
About the Alma engagement
What did Cited do for Alma?
We measured AI answers to questions about real estate portfolio software, positioned Alma for investors who have outgrown spreadsheets, added software and FAQ markup, wrote comparison and alternatives pages and placed the product in property technology publications.
Does this work for software companies?
Yes. Buyers increasingly ask AI assistants to shortlist software. Clear positioning, readable product information and comparison pages help a product appear on those shortlists.
